Continual Closures End, Nightly Closures Resume on Peter’s Creek Parkway Bridge

WINSTON-SALEM — Thanks to N.C. Department of Transportation design-build contractors for the Business 40 Improvement Project, daytime lane closures along I-40 Business at the Peter’s Creek Parkway bridge have ended for drivers in Winston-Salem.

“Our contractor Flatiron Construction, doubled their shifts over the last month accelerating the work from 45 days down to 16, providing earlier relief for drivers,” said NCDOT Resident Engineer Mezak Tucker.

“We are delighted that with encouragement through incentives and weather conducive for construction, the contractor was able to work with NCDOT to accelerate their schedule,” said NCDOT Division Engineer Pat Ivey.

Contractors will resume nighttime only closures of the inside lanes along this portion of Business 40 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Dec. 14, as well as continue the up and over nighttime traffic pattern along eastbound Business 40 at Peters Creek Parkway, as needed for preliminary work on the Business 40 Improvement Project.

These nighttime lane closures will be allowed through the holiday season Friday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 2.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert, slow down in the work zone and obey the posted speed limit.
