Thank you for your participation and input!
The planning process for the Business 40 Improvement Project has been completed! Since 2007, we have been meeting together to discuss design elements, interchanges, traffic patterns, and community impacts. Your input and involvement in the planning phase was very important. NCDOT gained approval for federal funding (80%) and is ready to move forward to the Design-Build phase.

Visit the What's New page and discover the new elements the project has added as we move forward into the Design-Build phase.
Project Overview
In 2007, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) began public involvement activities associated with the beginning of the project development studies for Business 40 (also known as U.S. 421) from west of 4th Street to east of Church Street in Winston-Salem. Click here to view the "New" Business 40 project map. The project will include removing and replacing highway pavement and ramps, replacing bridges and improving ramps onto and off of Business 40.

This site is continually updated to include the latest project information. Current project information can be found under the individual menu items while older information like previous newsletters can be found in the archive section listed under the pull down menus.
